Communication
Correspond with inmates and chaplains and supply them with spiritual resources. Raise awareness among clergy, consecrated religious and laity of the needs of the incarcerated population – currently one in every 30 Americans – who are cut off from Christian fellowship and the sacraments. Evangelization We reach out to the incarcerated -- fallen away Catholics, lukewarm Christians, or those with no faith -- and respond with pastoral guidance and encouragement in correspondence and inspirational resources on the Catholic Faith, Fr. Kolbe and MI consecration. We also offer Bibles – in English and/or Spanish – for prison chaplains to distribute to the inmates. Prayer We ask the inmates to pray with us for our intentions, and invite them to send us their prayer requests. We gather in Marytown’s chapel every Thursday at 7:00 p.m. (CST) for evening devotions – Rosary and Benediction and invite the inmates and their families -- wherever they are-- to pray with us at that time as we offer our Thanksgiving and make our petitions before Our Eucharistic Lord. The Future Always dependent on God’s grace and guidance, we hope to continue to grow our outreach, harvesting many more souls for Him. We’re looking forward to the possibility of team visits to local correctional facilities, to organizing online materials for days of recollection for inmates and chaplains, and Rite of Christian Initiation programs for those inmates who want to enter or return to the Church. |
